The groove is on with a whole new edge and sound that has grabbed the attention of many worldwide with much praise and support for a band that looks set to create an explosive ripple in the stream of the music industry.
Magic Dirt have announced their new album "Girl" will be out on July 5th. Yes, just 3 days time! The first single will be "Romy" and the tracklisting is after the jump.
They'll be touring from August till basically the end of the year, which means I get to see them twice. w00t!
Trivium have released a few lines to tease you about their 3rd studio album which will be called "Shogun" and released toward the end of September.
Note to self : Now's not a good time to explain my theory on curse of the third album......................................
Frontman Matt said "We made a cohesive, epic metal album that combines all of the ingredients of everything we feel we have ever done 'right' musically, while adding a new direction that the music called for. We had so much fun creating this album and hope our fans feel that energy when they listen."
Anyway, can't wait. And hopefully they'll tour down under to promote it as well.
Ok, so the title might be a little harsh, but still, apparently the new AC/DC album will be released exclusively through Wal-Mart Stores Inc.. Because we don't have any Wal-Mart's in Australia, I have no idea what that means for us. I'm assuming one of the large chains is probably affiliated with them...
I guess it's a profitable decision for them? But it's a little anti-rock for my liking. I thought rock was against the man and major corporations. Not making a deal with them and totally screwing independant retailers...
My Chemical Romance are about to release their new DVD The Black Parade is Dead and have put a sneak peak up over at Buzznet. Urgh. Yes, they put up that song. But still two words. Bob's Drumkit. (Or is it three?). Wow. It fucking revolves. That's cool.
There's also some competition or something but every comp seems to be US only I didn't even bother looking into it. That and I refuse to sign up to buzznet. Don't quote me on that last thing tho....
Apart from the fact that whoever writes the blog for Megaherz should be fired (the link in it takes you to myspace.com/megaherTz - different site totally!!) I'm totally excited for the new release from my second (or sometimes first) favourite German metal band, Megaherz.
The album (slotted for a 25th of July release) is apparently coming to a store near me. I wish. Although I live in the big smoke now so maybe I can find it here in Australia?
Heuchler will be available to stream from the bands myspace - the real spelling a week before the release, or go there now to check out "Fauler Zauber" coz it rocks.
But the most amazing thing is if you're a total geek (even I don't qualify!) then you can preview the album on Second Life in "Club Dark Refuge" on 23rd May. Geez that's cool in a totally geeky way. Unfortunately I don't have a spare 23097 Gig on my computer to install the bloody Second Life stuff... well, the program and all the cool stuff to make me look cool. So I wont meet you there. That and the fact I couldn't work out where the fuck I was and why I could fly. So I deleted it and went and talked to REAL people...(ok, maybe only on MSN, but it just seems more real? Arrrgh. I'm a hermit!)
I know I'm a tad late with this one, but head over to theslip.nin.com to download for free the entire new Nine Inch Nails album. I must admit, if he they released a physical version I'd buy it but it's nice of him them to put it out for free, no strings attached.
Yeah, I know, I'm such a fangirl at heart. Which is why I'm excited that my favourite boy band are releasing their DVD on June 24th. It's entitled "The Black Parade is Dead!" and comes in your standard DVD (either regular or clean. who the fuck gets clean versions??) or a limited edition which also has a "collectible pinewood coffin box burned with the mcr logo, 1 of 5 masks and a certificate of authenticity."
Thankfully this time around the special edition isn't as ridiculously priced as the last one, but it'd be so much cooler if the coffin was actually coffin shaped, and you got all 5 masks. Ah well. You can check out theblackparadeisdead.com for more info and to pre order. Although, I much prefer to go to theblackparade.com coz it's cool in a subtle way. Although they need to play that annoying "BEEEEP" as well. You know, to add to its authenticity and all. And to annoy the shit out of everyone. Mwahahaha.
Apparently Atreyu are the first rock band to take advantage of the new CDVU+ format. It sounds pretty sweet.
"The CDVU+ replaces the traditional CD booklet/jewel case with eco-friendly packaging (100% recyclable, 35% post-consumer) while offering an unprecedented amount of content, which is accessed through a weblink that’s triggered when fans put the disc in their computers."
It features most things you'd find on a normal DVD (the actual album, videos, photos, lyrics etc) but it's the amount of these things they can shove on there that is amazing.
Finally I get to feel really young again. After reading the announcement from Metallica.com I realise how little I know about vinyl. Other than the fact how cool it is to have from a collectors point of view, but as for actual specs? No idea!
"
While we're finishing up the new album, we told the dudes at the record company we thought it might be cool to dust off the old tapes and get all retro with some vinyl re-releases... First up are the first two albums (duh!?), "Kill ?Em All" and "Ride the Lightning," coming out on April 15 in North America and pretty fucking close to that in the rest of the world.
There will be two versions...one like the original on a single disc spinning at 33 1/3, the other a two disc, 180 gram vinyl, 45 rpm package all in a double gatefold."
After that last paragraph I need a coffee. Or sleep. Or to go through my parents record collection and find out what exactly it all means...
Head on over here to listen to and buy the new Nine Inch Nails release.
It's an instrumental release of 36 tracks. If you think of previous instrumentals from NIN then you'll be familiar with these songs. It's somewhat techno, somewhat piano, but very NIN.
My favourite part of the entire thing though, is the fact that you can choose from so many different ways of purchasing the release, and you can download the first 9 tracks for free (320kbps!!!!!!!!! yeeaaah!). And the fact that they've standardised the price for overseas CD's is cool too (I'm assuming it had something to do with Trent walking into a HMV in Australia and seeing how overpriced year_zero was. Yay Australia for starting a revolution!!)
And the website rocks too. Rob Sheridan is also my hero.
I'm going to spare you all my thoughts on digital ONLY releases, and let you all know that the Extended EP from The Used "Shallow Believer" can be downloaded from iTunes now following this link.
I've only listened to the 30 second preview thus far, so I don't really want to make a review on it yet. I will say this, however, it sounds very them - (yes, i'm aware these are B-sides and so there's usually no far stretch from their genre here), and my favourite right now would be "Choke Me", because I really don't like all their slower songs.
Stay tuned for a more in depth review when I actually buy it!
If you head on over to digitalversatiledoom.com you can preview 3 audio tracks from the new live DVD from HIM.
They're not full tracks, but I must admit, the site is worth a look purely for aesthetic reasons alone. The heartagram of stills from the DVD is soo fucking cool. So yeah, check it out even if it's just for that.
We've all heard about "Chinese Democracy" (the loooooooong awaited Guns N Roses release) and some of us have even heard a lot of the tracks, but apparently the record was finished before Christmas, yet there is no release date set at present.
Call me old school but with one band member left, and over 15 years in the making (omg, i wasn't even double digits when this album was started!!) I'm kind of over this before it's even released. You can't have that many years of build up without having massive expectations. And with that kind of a break between albums, (and without Slash mind you) how alienated are the former fans going to feel? And how easy is it for a ..... I don't know.... 40 year old? 50? to engague a younger audience?
I guess there are a few flannel-wearing die-hard fans still out there. And the fact that the internet is abuzz with this information (again, no release date even!) seems like it might make an impact.
