I had mixed feelings when I heard that
Jeordie was reuniting with
Marilyn Manson. To be honest I haven't listened to a lot of Manson post Antichrist Superstar days. Yeah I have all the more recent albums, but I rarely listen to them.
So to me, the line up reversion was going to either make or break it for me. It could've been a last ditch attempt at reclaiming the psycho-ness and attitude they had in the day, or it could've reclaimed all that anger and rage and been amazing.
I'm hoping it's the latter. And by this new interview over at
Boston Herald I'm clinging to that hope.
"
Now I have to make music that everyone else is afraid to make, and not care what anybody thinks", and "
It’s good to have my partner back, who was the only person able to stare all of that in the face and not be afraid of it. He and I are like brothers in that when we’re together, we’re not afraid of anything. I think that’s how we’ve made our best music".
Although finding out that he doesn't go to the supermarket totally crushed me. How else was I supposed to "accidentally" run into him other than by hiding in the frozen meat section at the supermarket?? HOW!?

record label
I really hate hype, and interviewers who suck up to their interviewees. Don't get me wrong, give all the praise if it's due, but having this as an opening paragraph was kind of vomit inducing...
"
First and foremost, Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer is an artist. His vision redefined guitar playing in the mid-90's, and he crafted some of the most memorable riffs in heavy music ever."
They go on to say "
Knowing you personally, I think you just have the urge to put out and promote great art." and "
you've got a great label roster to start. The bands are so diverse.".
His head must've been too big to fit through any door after that interview...But for the record, yeah, Korn had some good songs, and I annoy everyone by playing the intros to "Falling Away From Me" and "Blind" over and over again. So some great riffs? Yeah. But c'mon. You're only human. Just because you start a record label doesn't mean your going to start a revolution.
Having said that, I got a bit of a laugh out of the interview. Only because I have a hard time keeping a straight face when people think they're so amazing and extraordinary. Read the rest
here.
