Ok, this half makes me laugh, half cry. So I must be only half emo right? Anyway, there's some sort of march going on in London by
My Chemical Romance fans in retaliation for The Daily Mail calling MCR a
"suicide cult".
Now I'm a massive MCR geek, and if
The Daily Mail cared to do a little research they'd know that it's kinda the opposite of what MCR are/were going for. (Cue
Headfirst for Halos).
Ok, so that's me laughing out of the way, and onto
this article.

They could find only one clue: Hannah was what is known as an "emo". WTF? So apparently instead of using medical terms and getting psychiatrists and psychologists to air their thoughts, they just call her emo and voilĂ ! We just blame her music/hairstyle and clothes!?

I wasn't going to say anything about it, because it's on absolutely every freaking website, but it's so stupid and discriminative and just plain embarrassing for something like this to be happening today.
To everyone who replied to all these online articles with "kill the emos!" and way too cool, well thought out sayings like that, this isn't isolated to just "emo's", it's a part of any and all minority's. And we are all apart of
some minority, somewhere, somehow.
Before I'd heard of these attacks I read about
Sophie Lancaster and her boyfriend.
I feel safer walking by a bunch of goths or emos more than any other stereotype. And yet, they seem to be a target for no particular reason. "OMG, you've got black hair! And is it totally covering your face?! Wow! I HATE YOU *bash* *bash* *bash*"
Thing is, emo's don't hurt anyone. (Except for that freaking retarded windmill dancing or whatever it is. You do that, and yes, I will hit you...) But they mean no harm. To others anyway. Emo's aren't the ones that yell out at you while you're walking past, they don't tell you to "get off their street" and they certainly don't instigate fights.
They're picking a fight on someone that they know will have no chance of retaliating, wow. They must be sooo tough. I think the worst thing for me was that some of the people responsible for this, are fellow music lovers, "metal heads" and "punk rockers" - I thought music was supposed to bridge discrimination. Not further the repulsion. I like metal, I like punk rock, and apparently I like "emo" music. So where the fuck do I fit into the equation? I don't even fucking care!
I just hope karma catches up with these fuckers and they're made an example of. There's laws against bashing up people for their sex, race or religion. There should be one for stereotypes and music also.
They should make a
lilith fair of the emo world. (No, don't say
Taste of Chaos already is...). As long as they have all the exits really secure so the "haters" don't have access to an emo smorgasbord.
PS. I'm soooo going home tonight and giving myself a massive fringe in support of these people.
