I think it's fantastic that artists are doing this, but I think there's a backswing of downsides for "the little artists". You see, if the record company start thinking that after pouring masses of money gaining exposure for artists, that the artist is just going to leave them when they have enough of a fan base to support them, then why are they going to even try to promote bands in the first place?
Yes, it's a toughie. But hopefully it'll just shake up the dodgy record companies and make them think twice about screwing artists around.
